Turner student awarded Elmira College theater prize

ELMIRA, N.Y. — Kallah Turner of Turner, Maine, was one of two students named recipients of this year’s Hal Roach, Litt.D. ’88 Theatre Prize at Elmira College’s commencement exercises.

The prize is given by Hal Roach, Litt.D. ’88 Sons of the Desert Tent (Elmira) and presented to a graduating theater major who has demonstrated the potential of a professional career in theater and film.
Roach, a native Elmiran born in 1892, was a Hollywood legend famous for his “Our Gang” and “Laurel & Hardy” comedies, and receipient of three Academcy Awards.
