Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine offers weekly kayaking program

Jun. 152018

NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine will offer a weekly kayaking wellness program, beginning with two beginning sessions.
Sarah Carter, coordinator for 5210 Let’s Go of Oxford County, will offer introductory lessons for basic kayaking from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23 and June 30.

Before moving back to Maine, Carter guided day and week-long kayak tours in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. Participants in the beginning sessions will learn about efficient paddling, balance and boat safety. But they will also have fun, get outside and get to be active with others.
Those attended should bring a kayak, paddle and personal flotation device if they have them. There will also be a few boats to demonstrate and try out. Participants will meet at the public boat launch in Pennesseewassee Park on route 118 on Norway Lake.
The weekly progam will start Saturday, July 21, and and continue through August. It will run from from 9 to 11 a.m. at the public boat launch.
