TURNER — The Turner Public Library’s Fourth of July Festival on the Green schedule has been set.
The day, which is Wednesdasy, July 4, will include:
* A parade beginning at 10 a.m. on Cobb Road, which will proceed down Main Street (Route 117) to Leavitt Area High School. There will be kids, bi-and tricycles, music, horses and carriages, balloons, veterans, fire and police vehicles, farm equipment — hey, it’s our community!
* Immediately after the parade, The World’s Best Strawberry Shortcake will be served on the Green by Turner Public Library volunteers.
* From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the library’s annual Book Sale will be held in the Leavitt Institute Building. It is a BIG event where you can probably find that book you’ve always wanted to read.
* Throughout the day, games prepared and manned by the LAHS Junior Class will be available in the area for children of all ages; a bounce house will be available; the Turner History Museum and Historical Association will have an open house and local nonprofit organizations will offer food and drink.
* Pinata smack will happen at about 11 a.m. on the Green. * Marty Lang will perform in the Gazebo starting around 11 a.m.
This event is a major fundraiser for the library and several other local non-profits.
A note to dog owners: Maine School Administrative District 52 allows the use of school property for the Festival on the Green. The library asks that to comply with the school district’s policies, dogs should be left at home July 4.
