LA Metro Chamber to unveil ‘Make It Here’ campaign June 7

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and its new economic development department (formerly the Lewiston Auburn Economic Growth Council) will launch its “Make It Here,” campaign, including new development initiatives, on Thursday, June 7, during the LA Metro Marketplace.

The campaign capitalizes on the history of high quality goods made in the region and the current strong manufacturing economic base, ranging from fine art craftsmanship to innovative and high-tech precision items distributed world-wide. The campaign encourages growth in all sectors. With five colleges and several institutes, “Make LA your choice for education.” “Make your dreams come true” by finding a career in the region’s healthcare, financial or service industries. “Make a memory” with a weekend visit to unique cultural events, restaurants or one of five local breweries, or a day skiing, biking, hiking or paddling all within ten minutes of several hotels. “Make it Home” and find a wide range of housing choices supported by strong neighborhood schools.
The chamber’s new economic development department includes a full-time business development specialist focused on business retention and expansion, with an emphasis on entrepreneurial growth; a loan officer managing a $3M portfolio; and consulting services on customs and foreign trade issues.
Following the unveiling of the “Make It Here” campaign, the Good Food Council of Lewiston Auburn will announce the five local businesses and organizations named as examples of “living” the five major Food Charter principles: Food Security; Local and Sustainable Agriculture; Leadership; Good Food Policy; and Working Landscapes and Community Infrastructure. Julia Harper, executive director of the GFCLA chose the LA Metro Marketplace to announce the 2018 awards to focus on the important links between a healthy workforce and youth aspirations.
The campaign unveling will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Lower Level of the Bates Mill Atrium as part of the LA Metro Marketplace. The LA Metro Marketplace is the Maine B2B rebranded to include time for local youth to see their future in the local business community, a job fair, as well as an afternoon (12:30 to 4:30 p.m.) of B2B and B2C networking.
