TURNER — The Turner Public Library is challenging students and adults to capture “The Way Life Should Be” as part of the library’s Summer Reading/Summer Teen Challenge.
The contest begins June 1 and runs through Aug. 24, the library will accept submissions of either photography or videography for the contest. Prizes will be awarded for the top entries and include cash prizes and gift cards.
Students grades seven through 12, as well as adults, may enter a photograph in one of the following categories: Nature and Wildlife, People and Portraits, Maine Life, and My Life.
Students in grade six and lower will be judged as a separate category and may enter any photograph they wish.
Photographers may edit their photographs using photo editing software. The library has Adobe Photoshop available free of charge. All photo entries should be submitted both electronically for judging and as a printed photograph for display in the library. Photos may be printed at the library for 25 cents a photo, color or black and white.
Video contestants may submit one video with a maximum length of 10 minutes, including titles and credits, with content no more intense than PG-13 rated. The theme “The Way Life Should Be” should be communicated in the content of the video, but otherwise, contestants are free to create their best video work. All video entries should be submitted electronically in AVI, FLV, WMV, MOV, or MP4 file. Videos may be submitted via email or on a DVD.
