L-A Rotary Lunch Club will hear year-end reflections June 21

AUBURN — Monica Millhime will be the featured speaker of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Lunch Club Thursday, June 21, from noon to 1 p.m. at The Village Inn Restaurant, 165 High St.
L-A Rotary marked its 100th Anniversary in 2017. Millhime, the club’s 101st president, will speak about “The Next 100 Years & Making a Difference” with her year-end reflections.

Thanks to the assistance and galvanization of community and club members, Millhime successfully accomplished numerous programs and projects throughout her presidency and grew membership by 25%.
The club’s areas of focus included children and students; community and international connections; partnerships with Washburn School, Schooner Estates, American Red Cross, Alzheimer’s of Maine, Greater Androscoggin Humane Society; and connecting with veterans’groups. Several grants were awarded during the year to area non-profits, as well as $6,000 in community scholarships to graduating seniors.
Millhime’s corporate connections began as a Sun Journal graphic designer. Advancing her career to advertising manager/department head, she was an integral part of the SJ Diversification Team, serving as the New Media director for Explore Maine; vice president of sales/marketing for Northeast Data Solutions; and franchise dealer for Val-Pak of Maine. Millhime was Maine’s first female president for the New England Newspaper Advertising Executive Association prior to her departure from the SJ to complete a degree in education.
She was a substitute teacher in Lisbon and transitioned to the district-wide Community Resource Coordinator position, facilitating marketing, grant writing and advisor capacities for students with yearbooks and co-curricular programs. She currently covers five counties for Western Maine Community Action, at the Lewiston CareerCenter, as an employment and training business specialist, developing and coordinating employer driven projects with Work Ready and on-the-job training programs.
Millhime has been a Rotarian for more than 20 years and is a Paul Harris Fellow; she resides in Durham with her husband Jim. The next meeting will be held June 28, when incoming president Tom MacDonald will be the guest speaker
