Artists Open Studio Day planned for June 16 in Norway

NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group will host Artists Open Studio Day, a free self-guided art adventure, in which participants may visit artists in their studios, see their work and get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their working processes.
The art tour is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16.

Fine art is most often experienced by visiting galleries and museums, the organization said. People rarely have a chance to meet the artists and to be in the welcoming spaces where they nourish their creativity and produce their art.
The Artists’ Open Studio Day gives visitors this opportunity as well as artists the occasion to connect with them and to share their passion and expertise.
The day will begin at the Matolcsy Center, where Melanie Tornberg, Mike Everett, Sandra Bell, Rochelle Draper and Peter Herley will be set up making art. From there, get directions to the artists’ studios of Pam Morra, Nikki Millonzi, Don Best, Irina Kahn and Judy Schneider.
The event is about discovering and celebrating local artists. Conversations along the way will develop an understanding between art appreciators and makers, creating relationships that extend far beyond the tour itself. Studio visits can be made by appointment throughout the year.
