WORCESTER, Mass. — Chantal Jordan, of Lewiston, Maine, and Ashley Richardson of Durham, Maine, were among 617 graduates to receive a degree during Assumption College’s 101st commencement exercises on Sunday, May 13.
The commencement speaker was the Most Rev. Robert E. Barron, S.T.D., auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who uses various forms of media, in particular social media, to share the Gospel message and one of the most-followed Catholics on social media, according to the college. Assumption is a Catholic liberal arts college, founded by the Augustinians. Francesco C. Cesareo, president of Assumption College, urged graduates to continue to live the college’s mission in their future endeavors.
Jordan and Richardson both received bachelor’s degrees during the ceremony and were among 406 to receive bachelor of arts degrees; 180 graduate studies degrees (master of arts and master of business administration) and certificates; and 31 continuing and career education degrees (bachelor of arts, bachelor of business administration, bachelor of science, and associate) were awarded.
Richardson was also inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society for those who study economics. To qualify as a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the student must be an economics major and carry at least a 3.0 grade point average in both the major and in his or her overall studies.
“Students named to Assumption College’s chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to and mastery of their academic studies,” said Louise Carroll Keeley, provost and vice president of academic affairs at the College. “Earning membership to an honor society is among the highest academic recognitions for an undergraduate.”
