Growing up in the Chicago area, I was active in Scouting. After graduation, I received my post-secondary education at Michigan State, the University of Arizona and Yale.
I am a Vietnam veteran and have worked for the U.S. Forest Service. I also have taught at several universities, including Yale.
Serving in Maine State government from 1976 to 1986, I worked on land management and economic development issues, including infrastructure, debt policy and education — all highly relevant to town government. I was often involved in legislative hearings and negotiations over bills and budgets. Since 1987, I have operated a small, forestry-consulting business — The Irland Group.
Volunteer activities include several years on the Belgrade Planning Board, long service on the Wayne Conservation Commission, vice chairman of the Comprehensive Plan Committee and also of the Open Space Committee, and Cubmaster of our local Cub Scout pack.
Offering town government experience and common sense, I am asking Wayne residents for their vote at the June 12 town election at the Ladd Center.
