TURNER — Phyllis A. Richardson, 98, a lifelong resident of Turner, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 21, 2018, at her home and surrounded by her family.
She was born Nov. 27, 1919, in Turner, the daughter of William Tidswell and Alice (Tripp) Tidswell.
She was a 1938 graduate of Leavitt Institute.
On Oct. 13, 1939, she married Harlan Richardson, who passed away in May 1980. Phyllis worked for 23 years at DeCoster Egg Farm and also packed apples at L/P Farms and Ricker Orchards. She was a member of the Mother Club, the GAR Hall and Home Extension. She volunteered for many years at the Turner Senior Citizens. In 2016 she was the proud recipient of the Boston Cane for being the oldest citizen in Turner. She was an avid Celtics fan and enjoyed many years of traveling and playing cards with her good friend Patty Libby.
There will be fond memories of her loving thoughtfulness. She never forgot to send a card on birthdays, special occasions or holidays; she was known for her one-of-a-kind peanut butter fudge, as well as many other delicious treats; her candy dishes were always full throughout her home; and her endless hours of playing Skip Bo with her grandchildren and watching the Price is Right. Phyllis was a loving, devoted and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her loving family.
She is survived by her three sons — Harlan “Bunny” Richardson Jr. and wife Diane of Turner, Blaine Richardson and wife Jean of Louisiana, and Brian Richardson and his Tammy of Winthrop; three daughters, Beverly Conant and husband Ralph of Turner, Donna Shields and husband Don of Turner, and Cheryl Lachapelle and husband Joe of Turner; 13 grandchildren — Rick, Rhonda, Dana, Jeff, Terri, Kathy, Tim, Todd, Danny, Briana, Brittany, Ashley and Joe; 19 great-grandchildren, her sister, Doris Russell and husband Lawrence of Turner, and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Erlan and Lawrence Tidswell, and sisters Margaret Sampson, Eleanor Tidswell, Marion Tucker and Thelma Seamans.
The family would like to express special thanks to all of the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice; her nurses, April, Anita and Tammy; special aide Amy and to Jen and her staff at Elite Care staff. The family would also like to thank her special angel Gretchen Green for her loving and devoted care.
Her funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 25, and 11 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at the funeral home.
Interment at Turner Village Cemetery, Church Street, Turner.
