NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine recently celebrated and honored their 62 volunteers with pins, key rings, certificates. Light refreshments were provided by the board and staff; a beautiful cake donated the Oxford Hannaford store donated a cake for the occasion.
Smedburg Farm donated flowers for a door prize won by Anne Bernard. The Progress Center was presented with flowers, also donated by Smedburg Farm, in appreciation for all the comfort items they sew for the center. Special recognition went to their four volunteers — Kathy Greenleaf, Mary VanNest, Sally Reis and David Wilson — who have been with the center since they first opened in the fall of 2015. Volunteers serve on the board of directors, support center operations, lead a variety of activities, provide Reiki at the free clinics and serve on the Centers’ committees.
The following businesses were also mentioned for their assistance in supporting the services offered by the Center — Stephens Memorial Hospital and staff, Progress Center, Lively Accents, Sew Orchid Design, LLC, Posabilities, Hair & Co., Richard Bader Physical Therapy, Healthy Oxford Hills and First Congregational Church, Town of Norway and the Short Folks for Hope.
The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is located at 199 Main St, Norway in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, offering as well as comfort items, free to anyone impacted by cancer.
