Weather spotter training offered at Norway Library

May. 222018

NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library presents Skywarn weather spotter training offered by the National Weather Service in Gray.
The training is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 12.

Mike Cempa of the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration will teach participants how to accurately spot floods, hail, severe storms and other weather phenomena.
Volunteer weather spotters help the NWS know what is happening locally when severe weather occurs. Topics will include how thunderstorms develop, storm structures, how to gather and report information, and how to be safe during severe weather.
The program is free and open to anyone interested in weather watching or becoming a Skywarn spotter.
For more information about the program, call the library at 207-743-5309 ext. 1.
