Collins, King meet with Auburn middle-schoolers in DC

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, and Susan Collins, R-Maine, recently met with a group of 16 eighth-grade students, parents and teachers from Auburn Middle School, who traveled to the District of Columbia as part of the school’s biennial class trip.

“It is always a pleasure to welcome Maine students to our nation’s capital,” said Collins and King in a joint statement. “We had a great discussion with these bright students from Auburn Middle School about the legislative process and the daily responsibilities of a U.S. senator. Most importantly, we encouraged these young people to remain civically engaged, look for opportunities to improve their communities, and never lose sight of their dreams.”
During their visit, the Auburn Middle School students toured the U.S. Capitol building, explored Smithsonian museums, and walked along the National Mall to visit the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the World War II Memorial.
