LEWISTON — Mike Luciano will talk about Maine’s paper industry at the annual meeting of the Androscoggin Historical Society Tuesday, May 22.
Maine’s paper industry has long been a staple source of jobs and the economy of many towns in the Androscoggin River Valley, as well as elsewhere in the state. This constitutes a rich history of many communities, but what is its future?
Luciano’s life and the lives of his family have been intimately involved in the industry for more than 40 years. As a resident of Jay and a retired human resources executive, Luciano has worked domestically and been involved in projects internationally. He can provide a broad overview of the industry, both temporally and from an international perspective.
Luciano’s community service has included serving as chairman of Franklin Memorial Hospital and Franklin Community Health Network, Greater Franklin Development Council, and HR Committee for the Maine Pulp and Paper Association. He has served on boards and committees of Kennebec Valley Community College and University of Maine. He currently serves on the boards of Franklin Savings Bank, the Pierce House, and the North Star Ambulance Advisory Committee; he volunteers at the Paper and Heritage Museum. In recent years, he has become an amateur stand-up comedian, performing as “Father Guido of Chisholmore Falls.”
Liciano will be accompanied by Sherry Judd, the secretary of the board and past president of the Paper and Heritage Museum, located in Livermore Falls. She will speak briefly on the museum.
The meeting will be held at Marco’s Restaurant, 12 Mollison Way.
