The Kora Temple Shriners will sponsor three free screening clinics in Lewiston, Brunswick and Skowhegan to identify potential patients for Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield, Mass., and Boston.
The pediatric, orthopedic and burn-injury medical evaluations will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 12.
They will be at Central Maine Medical Center, Family Medicine Residency, 76 High St., Lewiston; Redington-Fairview Hospital, 46 Fairview Ave. Skowhegan,; Midcoast Rehabilitation Center, 329 Bath Road., Brunswick. No appointments are necessary, and there is no charge for the visit.
The Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield focuses on orthopedic care, treating conditions such as clubfoot, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, bone infections, hest wall deformities, cleft lip and palate, spina bifida, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, scoliosis and other spine deformities, hand and shoulder deformitie, brittle bone disease, cerebral p and hip disorders.
Shriners Hospitals for Children in Boston focuses on burn and orthopedic care, treating some of the same conditions as the Springfield hospital, but also burn injuries, hemangiomas, scarring and deformities of the face, specialized wound care and skin disorders, reconstructive and laser plastic surgery, severe scarring resulting in contractures or interfering with mobility of the limb
