LEWISTON — Offerings at SeniorsPlus in both Lewiston and Farmington for May include a range of classes, workshops and activities, from jewelry making to how to navigate the health care system.

Lewiston activities, unless stated otherwise, are free and located at 8 Falcon Road. Some of the Lewiston offerings include:
Jewelry Making: Memory Wire Bracelets, 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 1 and earrings on Tuesday, May 22, with Lisa Marshall of 2 Blue Gems. There is a fee for the course. Participants will make a memory-wire bracelet, using gemstone, glass, and metal beads and charms. Ends will be finished off by the instructor. All materials will be provided, and participants will leave with a wearable piece of jewelry.
Understanding Healthcare Options Part 1, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, with Angela Moore, Beacon Hospice and Dave Bracket, Kindred At Home. A review of Medicare rules and guidelines to help participants become informed consumers in health care decisions that impact their quality of care.
Navigating the Senior Care Pathway, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, with Albert L’Etoile, Woodlands of Lewiston. Local options for each level of care as well as touch briefly upon options for payment.
There are also sessions on crafting, sessions on hearing, eyesight and dementia; a series on living well for better health, ongoing fitness, including chair yoga and stretch and balancing classes knitting group, coffee and comfort, a book club and caregiver support, among others

A Matter of Balance, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, May 3 to June 21, with Jacquelyn Cressy and Linda McDonough, at Bethel Family Health Center, 32 Railroad St., Bethel; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10 to June 28, with Amanda Peralta and Jackie Gammon, Rumford Public Library, 26 Rumford Ave. An eight-week long workshop designed to reduce the fear of falling and to increase activity levels among older adults. Participants learn to set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and learn simple strength and balance exercises.
Living Well for Better Health, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, May 16 to June 20, with Laure Johnson and Cheryl Moody, SeniorsPlus Farmington office, 218 Fairbanks Road. The six-week long workshop teaches real-life skills for living a full, healthy life with a chronic condition. Classes are fun and interactive. The workshop builds confidence around managing health, staying active, and enjoying life. Topics include communication, medication usage, talking with your healthcare provider, physical activity, weight management, and healthy eating. At the end of the workshop, there will be a drawing for a $25 Visa gift card. The more you go, the better your chances of winning.
In Farmington at the Community Center on Monday, May 7, Dory Diaz, Franklin County Animal Shelter will speak on the services that the FCAS does and the ways individuals can help. On Monday, May 21, Laure Johnson, of SeniorsPlus, will talk about SeniorsPlus services.
