WILTON — The Western Maine Play Museum’s fundraising effort took a step forward with its recent Spring Gala and Experience Auction, which included a matching gift from Barclay’s call center.
WMPM raised $14,450 in donations from the event, featuring auctioning “entertainment” offered by Jeff Bailey and Dan Ryder, both of whom are long-time museum supporters.
Many museum friends donated a wide variety of “experiences” for guests to bid on. Calzolaio Pasta Company restaurant prepared appetizers and entrees, as well as donations toward the cost of the food.
The board is also happy to announce the Wilton construction company Upright Frameworks has won the bid for completing the museum interior work through the Northern Border Regional Commission federal grant.
Construction should begin again soon. Most exterior renovations will be funded through a state facade grant, administered in coordination with the town of Wilton, which will cover the expenses of finishing the ramps, exterior doors and other street-view elements. Fundraising still continues.
Museum supporters are invited to buy an item from the future museum’s online registry for exhibit items: www.myregistry.com/giftlist/westernmaineplaymuseum. Price points range from just a few dollars to more expensive items.
