HEBRON — The Hebron Historical Society will host state historian Earle Shettleworth, who will speak about the Maine homefront in World War I.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Town Office, 351 Paris Road.
At its last meeting, the society hosted historian and storyteller Steve Pinkham, who talked about his research and writing on the Maine woods.
Pinkham has researched thousands of articles and documents in libraries and historical societies across the state for his work on the Maine Woods and has hiked many of the state’s mountains and hills related to his stories.
His first book covered more than 450 named mountains and hills in the state, including their name origin and location.
His book “Old Tales of the Maine Woods” includes humorous tales and stories from the period 1849 to 1913.
He shared several of these stories with the audience and answered questions concerning the state’s early woodland history and characters.
