April 29 discussion, woods walk to focus on forest management

Apr. 142018

WINTHROP — The Kennebec Land Trust and Maine Woodland Owners invite the public to a spring walk in the woods in Chesterville from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29.
The walk is a follow-up field program to its April 5 workshop on non-timber forest products and current use, property-tax programs.

Dave Fuller, of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, and Harold Burnett, of Two Trees Forestry, will identify non-timber forest products and discuss forest management options for landowners.
The program will be hosted on a private tree farm. After the tree farm program, participants can join in for a short walk at the Vienna woods. It may be damp, so wear boots.
Directions — Heading north on Route 41 out of Vienna, take a left onto Route 156, just before a low, concrete bridge in Chesterville. Take an immediate left, after about 100 feet, up Chesterville Hill Road to 129 on the right.
Registration is not required, and there is no need to have attended the April 5 workshop. For more information, visit www.tklt.org or call 207- 377-2848.
