There will be no game on Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving. The following Friday, Dec. 2, there will be another game, same place and time.

All bridge players are cordially invited; a partner is always guaranteed. The bridge club’s annual Christmas party will be held prior to the Dec. 16 game. For information call Les Buzzell at 754- 9153 or email buzz116@myfairpoint.net. This week’s bridge tip: If the opening lead is fourth best, deduct that card from 11. The answer is (almost always) the number of cards higher than the card led held by the other three players. Partner looks at dummy and his cards, and by using this rule (guide) of 11, he knows how many cards declarer holds that are higher than the card led. Declarer also can use this rule to his advantage. This is especially beneficial in no-trump contracts.
