AUBURN — Events, activities and meetings are on tap for teens during April at the Auburn Public Library. Some of the offerings include:
MAINE JOB CORPS: Those age 16 to 24 may contact Cathie Gavett of the Maine Job Corps at 207-458-5369 to find out more about the program and who is eligible. She will arrange a mutually convenient time to meet at the library for individuals who are interested.
TEEN LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD: Meets 2:30 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 24 in the library’s Teen Space. The board a joint venture between the library and the Edward Little High School library to create more awareness of and collaboration between both libraries, promoting everything the libraries offer to the teens in the community. It meets e very two weeks, alternating between the two libraries. Those between 12 and 18 who’d like to join do not have to be a student at Edward Little.
TWEENS IN THE TEEN SPACE: Meets from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays April 11 and 25. For sixth graders. HOMEWORK HELP: 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays April 12 and 26, second floor, check in at reference desk. For teens in grades 7-12 and will include a healthy snack. TEEN GAMING HOUR: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Vvideo games and snacks for teens age 12-18.
TEENS DIY TAKEOVER: POETRY & PANCAKES: 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, teen space. Teens are invited to bring their own poetry to share or favorite poem to read to the group. For ages 12-18.
TEENS EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in the teen space. Tips for you on how to celebrate Earth Day, along with a couple of themed activities. For ages 12-18.
TEENS MATINEE MOVIE: “Dead Poets Society,” rated PG, will be shown from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 20, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Robin Williams stars as English teacher John Keating, who “inspires his students to look at poetry with a different perspective of authentic knowledge and feelings.” For ages 12-18 and includes a snack.
TEEN FINANCE TIPS: 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, conference room, ground floor. The 2018 Teen Life Skills series concludes with Money Smart Week. Community Credit Union presentation will include tips and discussions about financial instruments like a checkbook, debit card and credit card, student loans vs career choices, what is debt, importance of credit score, budgeting basics and more.
