Vienna Union Hall opens for spring and summer events April 7

Mar. 312018

VIENNA — Throughout the year, Union Hall members have been meeting and preparing for the 2018 season. After a long winter, the doors to Union Hall will open April 7 to a show featuring the area’s own local performers.
Kicking off this first show will be duo Hurry Down Sunshine, — Brian Kavanah and Stan Davis — playing jazz standards, the blues, love songs and other songs about life.

Kavanah’s singing, Davis’s storytelling, and the two guitars weave a tapestry of complex, ever-changing music. The music combines deep, emotional vocals and improvised acoustic guitar melodies.
Next up, local guitarist and singer Maxine Marquis, an art teacher, will perform an eclectic mix, and after the break, Steve Richardson, John Whitney and Hank Washburn return to Union Hall and will be playing many Richardson originals as part of “Route 41 Revisited.” Whitney and Rihardson also play with the Ice Out Band. Washburn plays with the Racket Club Band and an Irish band called “Dromore Bay Celtic Music.” Admission is $10.
Upcoming events at Union Hall include:
* May 19 – Saturday — Katahdin Valley Boys
* June 23 – Saturday — Porch Party Mamas
