WATERVILLE — The Waterville Music Boosters will host a silent auction swing dance/concert on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Waterville Senior High School. Refreshments and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m., and dance lessons will be offered at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $5. Proceeds from the silent auction and dance will fund scholarships for students to attend music camp in the summer of 2017 and fund the high school music trip to New York City in March 2018.
To open the evening music will be provided by the Waterville Junior High Jazz Band and the Waterville Senior High Jazz Band, but the majority of the evening’s music will be performed by the Opus One Big Band.
The Opus One Big Band is comprised of Maine musicians who support music programs by performing benefit concerts throughout the state. The band has been playing for more than 20 years and has performed for church concert series, music booster fundraisers, and other charitable events. The band is currently under the direction of Dale Perkins and includes music educators and performers from across the state.
Band members for the evening could include Eric Thomas of Colby College, Andy Forster of Messalonskee High School and Ciara Hargrove of Waterville Senior High School. Other musicians include John Morneau, Curt Allen, Jason Ward, Tom Stott, Gary Comingore, John Furman, Peter Stuard, John Reeves, Lee Prager, Dan Labonte, Meg Hausman, Megan Kennedy, Jim Perkins, Key Labrecque, Doug Kennedy and Dan Schneider.
Tickets are available at Waterville Senior High School in the office and at Jorgensen’s Cafe in downtown Waterville.
