AUGUSTA — The Unitarian Universalist Community Church will host a one-hour fundraiser — “20th Century Folk Music for Voice and Guitar” — 4 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at the church, 69 Winthrop St.
Joëlle Morris, a singer, actress, choral conductor and voice teacher, and Timothy Burris, will perform.
Recognized for her warm mezzo voice and her ability to sparkle on stage, she is admired for her versatility — from the concert stage to the operatic arena, in intimate jazz settings and French cabaret. She is an applied music instructor of voice at Colby College in Waterville.
Burris has performed throughout Europe and the U.S., both as a soloist and an accompanist. He has appeared in concert with esteemed artists as the mezzo Jennifer Lane, the keyboardist Robert Hill, and under the baton of Peter Schreier and René Clemencic. Burris is the founder and director of Portland’s Early Music Festival, sponsored by the Portland Conservatory of Music, now in its sixth year.
