LEWISTON — After receiving many requests, Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District has revamped, renewed and restored its annual spring plant sale, which had been in retirement for a number of years.
The plants selected for the sale come from Skillins Greenhouses in Cumberland and have been carefully selected with a focus on native and pollinator promoting plants. Order forms are due by April 23.
There is a wide range of plants to choose from, including herbs, vegetable seedlings, perennials, and annuals. Proceeds from the sale go directly into programming, which can vary from working with children and agriculture, promoting water quality bettering habits on the Androscoggin River, and offering a variety of continuing education training for adults.
AVSWCD is a not-for-profit organization cooperating with land owners and operators to help protect and conserve natural resources by promoting environmental stewardship in Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties.
