BETHEL and OXFORD — Carter’s Cross-Country Centers offer some of the most scenic cross-country skiing in Maine. Trails traverse open fields, explore the back woods and hills, and meander along the Androscoggin River with mountain views of the Mahoosucs and Presidential ranges.
There is a yurt along the way where skiers can rest and get some respite from the cold. Grooming is impeccable and master groomer Don takes pride in getting the trails in top condition for his visitors.
The friendly staff welcomes you upon your arrival at the cozy main lodge and can offer expert advice when making decisions to purchase or rent your cross-country gear. Private lessons are also available.
Carter’s has a great selection of equipment, clothing and accessories with ongoing sales and deals throughout the season. Skiers can also rent rustic, off-grid, wood-heated cabins equipped with propane for cooking and lights for overnight stays.
