AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College is offering the American Heart Association course in basic life support for health care providers. This four-hour training will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 25.
This course is designed to provide health-care professionals with the skills needed to keep people alive until they can be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures. Topics will include adult and pediatric CPR, use of the bag-valve mask, airway obstruction, automated external defibrillation (with child AED update) and other special resuscitation methods.
This course is open to the public and intended for physicians, nurses, first responders, medical assistants or others whose work brings them into contact with members of the public, such as school or hospitality industry employees. Registration for this course is open and ongoing, but space is limited. The cost is $79 and includes all materials.
