LEWISTON — New Ventures Maine is offering courses for career, business and financial education in Androscoggin County.
Business Basics, a three-session class, will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Feb. 15 and 22 and March 1, at USM LAC, 51-55 Westminster St.
This class covers the basics of a business plan, marketing, cash planning and is suitable for those thinking about, or who are in the early stage start-up of a new business. It will help you assess the feasibility, desirability and viability of your business idea and start writing your plan.
An Introduction to Self-Employment Workshop will be held in two locations.
The first will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at RSU 16 Adult Ed, Elm Street School, Mechanic Falls .
The second is from 10 a.m. to noon at the Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way.
This introductory workshop will help you decide if self-employment is the right choice for you. The class covers the pros and cons of owning your own business, the steps needed to get started, the major elements of a business plan, and the many resources available to help you succeed!
