Youth from the YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston’s Health & Wellness Pathfinders program toured the State House, in Augusta, on Jan. 22. The program’s mission is to expose seventh, eighth and ninth graders to careers in health and public safety while also teaching physical fitness, nutrition and outdoor skills with an emphasis on service learning. During their visit, the students, accompanied by project leader Tricia Grant and Jennifer Morin, the Work with ME! coordinator at the Auburn Police Department, met with Sen. Eric Brakey, R- Androscoggin. “It’s always encouraging to meet young people eager to learn more about our state government and how it functions,” said Brakey. “I’m glad to have had the opportunity to show these young Mainers around during their visit to the State House and am thankful to Tricia and Jennifer for taking the time to mentor youth from our community.” (Submitted photo)
