AUBURN — Edward Little High School graduates Victoria Beliveau and Tyme Finnerty each received a $500 Auburn Ski Association Scholarship at Lost Valley recently.
The annual ASA Scholarships are announced at the June graduation, and are awarded after the recipients successfully complete their first semester of college. The Auburn Ski Association provides financial support for alpine and nordic race programs at Edward Little High School and Auburn Middle School, as well as organizations such as the Lost Valley Racing Club and the Merrick Chadbourne after school learn-to-ski program at Lost Valley.
Beliveau is attending the University of Maine. Her high school GPA placed her in the top 10 percent of her graduating class. She was a three-sport athlete throughout high school, and came in third in Slalom in the Class A Alpine State Championship in 2017, as well as earning an eighth place award in the Class A Alpine Giant Slalom competition in 2017. She was also one of 12 girls who earneda spot on the Maine team and competed at the Eastern High School Championships her junior and senior years.
Finnerty is attending the University of Vermont, where she is pursuing studies related to Environmental Engineering and was named to the fall 2017 dean’s list. She earned a GPA high enough to finish third in her graduating class of 210 students. She was a three-sport varsity athlete, a member of the field hockey, nordic dkiing and lacrosse teams. She was captain of the field hockey team both her junior and senior year and captain of the nordic team her sophomore, junior, and senior year. She received the Larry Davis Skiing award her junior year. She was a volunteer teacher/coach for the Bill Koch Youth Skiing program throughout her high school years and still volunteers when she is home.
