Steves Family Market Big Buck Big Doe contest winner announced

With the recent addition of its new tagging station, Steve’s Family Market in Dryden held a contest for the “Biggest Buck” and “Biggest Doe” for the 2017 deer hunting season. Winners were announced Dec. 10. Jonathan Warren of Wilton won with a 10-point, 201-pound buck, and Christa Powers of Jay won with a 163.7-pound doe. Each winner received a cash award. Owner Roger Williams said the store will continue with the contest next year, noting a total of 179 white-tail deer, 30 black bears and seven turkeys were tagged this first season. (Submitted photo)
