Final plans coming together for Rangeley Snodeo 2018

RANGELEY — The Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club has been planning Snodeo 2018, scheduled for Jan. 18 to 20.
Events start with The Chili Chowder Cook-off, sponsored by the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce, 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at The Gingerbread House in Oquossoc, followed by RLSC “Casino Night” at 7 p.m at Bald Mountain Camps in Oquossoc.

Pre-registration for the return of Rock Maple Racing Cross-Country Race and the Tame the Track Tour snowmobile races begins Friday Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Steven Bean Municipal Airport. Pre-registrations will be taken online at rockmapleracing.com and tamethetracktour.com. The annual live auction, featuring Larry Koob at Snodeo Headquarters Moose Alley, will be held Friday, Jan. 19, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. All proceeds from the auction go directly to the grooming operations for the RLSC.

Saturday, Jan. 20, will be filled with events for all ages, including manufacturer demos at participating dealers and Radars Runs on Haley Pond, hosted by Harrison Family Riders; sign up will be at Haley Pond starting at 8 a.m.

Registration for The Rock Maple cross country race, and the Tame the Track Tour will continue at Stephen A. Bean Municipal Airport, Saturday, Jan. 20, starting at 6:30 a.m. However, racers interested in either event are strongly encouraged to pre-register at the airport on Friday evening. Gates will open to the public at 8 a.m. The Rock Maple Cross Country Race will be a five-mile event, and the Tame the Track Tour Snowmobile Race (Vintage & 120cc) will be one-third-mile track. Parking is free. All proceeds from this event go directly to the club grooming funds.

Vendors will be set up in the area adjacent to the race. Current vendors are Bald Mountain Camps, Hight Ford & Chevy, Boss Power Equipment and Oquossoc Marine. Vendor space is still available; contact Jonny Wakefield at jonnyoq@yahoo.com or email the club secretary at rlsc.secretary@gmail.com.
