Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine to feature healthy tips class

Dec. 182017

NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine will have a new item on its calendar in January — Tips for a Healthier You. The center is in the Stephens Memorial Hospital Specialty Clinic building, 199 Main St.

Tips for a Healthier You will be led by Katie Goldburg, nutrition rducator with Healthy Oxford Hills. The series of monthly classes will provide those present with recipes and a chance to enjoy some taste testing.

Also in the new year, Banding Together to Restore is returning on Thursdays, and will be held at 10 a.m. at Richard Bader Physical Therapy. The winter free Reiki Session Clinic will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 27.

Stampin’ Up with Kathy has moved to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3.

For the entire January calendar information, visit www.crcofwm.org. All programs offered by the center are free to anyone impacted by cancer, survivors and caregivers. New visitors are welcome to stop by for information and to join in one or all of their activities. In case of inclement weather, when School Administrative District 17 cancels classes, activities sponsored by the center are canceled as well.

Drop in hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Thursday and Friday. Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or look for resources. There are also many pamphlets and a lending library available.

The center is also a place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or take time for yourself by participating in scheduled activities. Activities such as coloring, knitting or games are available at all times.
