RUMFORD — Santa Claus came to town in a big and joyous way Saturday, Dec. 9, and his arrival during the annual parade brought the season’s first snow, just in time for the holidays.
When Santa appeared during the parade, accompanied by a couple of elves and with the message “Merry Christmas to All!”, he got cheers from the crowd gathered along the street.
The Rumford Fire Department also had a grand display of a huge Christmas wreath extended hHigh in the air at the beginning of Congress Street by two fire truck ladders.
It was the 25th celebration of Christmas in the Valley.
Santa, who was played by Roger Whitehouse, was presented with the Dot Sancha Kindness Counts Award, which is presented to one person each year for displaying a spirit of kindness to his fellow being.
