AUBURN — Lost Valley Ski Area opens its slopes at noon Friday, Dec. 15 — Maine’s third mountain to open for the 2017-2018 ski season.
Mother Nature has provided some free snow, noted owners Scott and April Shanaman, and snow making had been in progress most of the week. Skiing will be limited to intermediate and advanced terrain only until Friday, Dec. 22.
Located at 200 Lost Valley Road, the resort was purchased two seasons ago by the Shanamans and has seen a resurgence since, they said.
Three new trails, a snow-tubing park, a new magic carpet ski lift — where skiers slide onto a conveyor belt at the base, which then pulls them to the top — and numerous upgrades to the lifts and facilities have been made.
