LEWISTON — Museum L-A has launched an online store featuring home and personal décor printed with historical artwork designed by the mill workers from Bates Mill. The unique and exquisite patterns are from the Museum L-A collections that were rescued from dumpsters by the museum staff.
“The items for sale were selected by our community through a Facebook poll, and we listened to what people wanted,” said Rachel Desgrosseilliers, executive director.
“We encourage people to remember us during the gift-giving season and as gifts for a special person in the future. There are many patterns in our collections and other items that we will feature in our new store shortly.”
The online store is accessible by visiting www.museumla.org. The museum partnered with Zazzle, an organization whose mission is to give people the power to make anything imaginable. Through their website, the museum is able to showcase designs that were created in Lewiston and offer customizable items to individuals who desire unique gifts. A percentage of the shopper’s purchase benefits Museum L-A’s educational programs, exhibits and collections.
Museum L-A is in the Bates Mill Complex at 35 Canal Street in Lewiston, Maine. It’s open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
