‘Celebration of the Nativity’ performance to be held in Hall of Flags Dec. 18

AUGUSTA — Local clergy, choirs, and members of the Knights of Columbus Abnaki Council 334 will join together to present “A Celebration of the Nativity” from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, in the Hall of Flags at the State House in Augusta. All are invited to attend.

The event will include with a color guard procession; a reading about the birth of Jesus by deacon Jeffrey Lewis of St. Michael Parish in Augusta; and a blessing of the nativity by the Rev. Francis Morin, pastor of St. Michael Parish.

The celebration will also feature seasonal musical performances. The choir from St. Michael School in Augusta will perform “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Away in a Manger,” “Deck the Halls,” “The Little Drummer Boy,” “Joy to the World,” and “Go Tell It On the Mountain.” The choir from Saint Dominic Academy in Auburn/Lewiston will present “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “We Three Kings,” “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” “The First Noel,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High.”

The Mount View Chamber Singers will also perform during the program. The group comprises 20 high school students from Mount View High School in Thorndike. Each time a member graduates, auditions are held among the student body to fill the vacancy. The group has toured England, Scotland, El Salvador, Hungary, and the U.S., including performances at the White House.
