WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library will present a dramatic reading of “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” — written by Dylan Thomas and performed by Andrew Harris — 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Wayne Community Church, 22 Old Winthrop Road.
“A Child’s Christmas in Wales” is an intimate and hilarious portrait of Christmas Day in a small Welsh village in the 1920s.
Harris has acted in productions with Portland Stage Company, the Public Theatre and on film with The History Channel; he was the director of LA Arts in Lewiston. For a number of years during the holiday season, Harris has performed the works of Charles Dickens as well as Dylan Thomas at venues across Maine, including the Victoria Mansion and the St. Lawrence Arts Center.
Harris is the chairman of the Theatre Department at USM and executive director of Deertrees Theatre in Harrison. Following the program, there will be a reception at the Williams House next door to the church.
The program and reception are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jane Andrews at pjane@myfairpoint.net or 207-685-3754. In the event of severe weather on Dec. 17, call 207-931-9242 for updated information.
