MECHANIC FALLS — The public is invited to attend a service of lessons and carols at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31,at the Anglican Church of the Transfiguration, 64 Elm St.
The service will replace the normal Sunday morning service.
Readings from the Bible (the lessons) will be followed by music reflecting the reading. The service tells the Christmas story and provides an opportunity for the congregation to sing traditional Christmas carols.
The Church of the Transfiguration is an Anglican denomination meeting in the former Congregational Church building in Mechanic Falls.
The original pipe organ will accompany the carols. The parish is celebrating its first anniversary with a congregation from Mechanic Falls, the Oxford Hills region, Auburn, Lewiston and the surrounding area.
Refreshments will follow the service.
