AUGUSTA — Adele Beardsworth, licensed practical nurse at Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation, received the Maine Health Care Association 2017 Celebrating Excellence in Caregiving Award during a recognition ceremony held recently at the Augusta Civic Center.
The award is given annually to long-term care employees statewide consistently exemplifying a commendable level of care giving, dedication and professionalism in caring for Maine’s elderly and disabled citizens living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Beardsworth was one of 12 caregivers statewide receiving the honor.
Beardsworth has been employed at Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation for seven years. She is admired and respected by administration, managers and peers for her commitment and dedication on the job and for the support she gives to residents, their families and her co-workers.
Recipients of this award must meet certain criteria, including consistency in quality of care, attention to residents’ rights, leadership among peers, and an ability to inspire others.
Nominations were submitted by long-term care facilities, and winners around the state were selected by an independent panel of judges with long-term care expertise. The award is a tribute to the winners’ dedication and the association’s way of saying “Thank you.” MCHA is a nonprofit trade association representing 250 long-term care providers statewide.
Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation, 29 Marion Ave., Norway, received the 2017 Business of the Year Award from the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce and was voted one of the “Best Nursing Homes in the U.S.” for the third year in a row by “U.S. News and World Report.”
