LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice has announced new physician leadership and an addition to the hospice medical staff.
Elizabeth Hart, M.D. has been named the organization’s director of medical services and will provide leadership and oversight of all programs, including medically necessary health care at home, home hospice and the Hospice House. Hart joined AHCH as a hospice physician in February. She has many years of experience as a medical director, leading geriatrics and extended care, hospice and rehabilitation programs.
Hart earned her medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, N.H. She completed a family practice residency and a geriatric fellowship at Maine-Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency. In addition, she was one of 10 people nationwide selected for a two-year Practice Change Fellowship supported by the Atlantic Philanthropies and the John A. Hartford Foundation.
Hart is a graduate of Harvard-Radcliffe Colleges, with a concentration in psychobiology and studies in the humanities. She is certified in hospice and palliative medicine, geriatrics and family medicine and is a board-certified hospice medical director.
Shauna McElrath, D.O., has been chosen AHCH’s medical director for palliative care. She is a graduate of Rutgers University and earned her medical degree in osteopathic medicine at the University of Medicine & Dentistry in Strafford, N.J. McElrath completed a family medicine residency and a hospitalist fellowship at Central Maine Medical Center and is certified in hospice and palliative care by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine.
Elizabeth White, M.D., has rejoined AHCH as a hospice physician, providing home and long-term care hospice support and leadership while also spending some time at the Hospice House.
White previously served as the organization’s medical director. She has a diverse background in hospice, geriatrics and palliative care leadership, earning her medical degree at the University of Hamburg in Germany, completed a family practice residency at Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Portland, and a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is certified by American Board of Family Practice, with an added certificate of qualification in hospice and palliative care. She also holds a Master of Science in adult education from the University of Southern Maine.
