TURNER — The second annual PTC “Trunk or Treat” was held Oct. 28 at Leavitt Area High School. There were approximately 30 trunks participating (a mix of local businesses and families) and around 700 kids who came through the entrances. PTC members handed out tickets for all trick or treaters to vote for their favorite trunk, and the winner was the Hastings family for their Mario Brothers-themed trunk.
Each trunk participant could decorate the trunk of their vehicle and/or put a table out by their vehicle that children could then visit as a safe place to trick or treat. On this occasion, there were 30 spots children could visit without having to drive home to home. “We had space for 40 trunks to participate and had 29 decorated that day,” noted Betsy Sibley, PTC president. “We also had a photo booth where families could get pictures done of their kids in costume; we shared those on our Facebook page where they could tag, share or take a copy for themselves.”
The Turner PTC is a group of parents, teachers and community members working to raise funds for enrichment at Turner Elementary and Turner Primary schools. Events include organizing fun family-friendly events for students of both schools. The committee typically meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m., alternating between the two schools.
