Golf tournament fundraiser benefits high school seniors

Nov. 32017

TURNER –The Cherie Sargent Memorial Scholarship golf tournament fund raiser was held Sunday, Oct. 22, with a long list of sponsors and golfers contributing to an enjoyable day at Turner Highlands golf course. A generous lunch was provided, after which prizes were given out for various achievements the golfers accomplished that day. Also, there was a raffle of donations of certificates and in-kind gifts that were made to the fund.

There were many winners all around including a 50/50 prize of a $100. No one won the 2018 Toyota Corolla for a hole in one on the 18th; maybe next year.

Marcia Powers of North Turner was the organizer, producer and director of the event, with some help from friends and family. She set up the fund in memory of her sister Cherie, who died two years ago of colon cancer.

Thank you to all who participated and contributed to this scholarship fund. The money will provide scholarships to be given out next spring to students at Leavitt and Buckfield high schools.
