LEEDS — The Leeds Historical Society had a busy fall, presenting an evening of ghost stories and encounters with the spirit world and a fascinating program by Maine’s apple guru John Bunker.
Both events were very well attended with the audiences filling the community room at the Leeds Town Hall. In addition to these two programs for the community, LHS members spent many hours working on the renovations to the history center at the old Town Office. The wainscoting is in place, and the Sheetrock work has been done. When warm weather returns, the walls will be painted and the floors sanded and refinished. Slowly but surely it’s all coming together.
In the meantime, with the holiday season behind us, members will continue to work on the compilation of Leeds stories and articles for the Leeds anthology. Members have met with Bobbi Bowler from Monmouth to learn some of the technical aspects of this project (Monmouth is on its fifth volume!) and are still in hopes that people will share their memories or photographs for inclusion in Leeds’ collection.
