Leavitt Project Graduation comedy fundraiser is Dec. 1

Oct. 282017

TURNER — A comedy fundraiser will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, to benefit Leavitt High School’s project graduation.

Organizers said local support is key to raising the $18,000 needed to provide the Class of 2018 with a fun and safe night on June 1.

Ben Roberts, Class of 2000, will host the Comedy Fundraising Event at Mixers in Sabattus, which features 10 local and regional comedians. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show will be from 8 to 11 p.m. The cost is $15 in advance ($20 at the door), with all proceeds going to Project Graduation.

Roberts has been performing standup comedy for more than four years. He has opened for George Hamm, performed in The Portland Maine Comedy Festival, and hosted a variety of shows such as fundraisers and last winter’s comedy competition “Last Comic Laughing” held at Bear Bones Beer in Lewiston.

Also performing will be Ali Simpson, R.A. Sweeney, James Theberge, Jamie Roux, Dawn Hartill, Robert Glancy, Sam Pelletier, Mark Turcotte and Joe Deschaine, who also attended Leavitt.

Project Graduation is also accepting items for the March 31 annual auction. To make a donation, contact auction chairwoman Stacie Santomango at 207-212-3235 or committee officers Lori Chouinard, 207-576-6572; Kris Albert, 207-713-8203; or ReNae Gagnon, 207-240-3785.

Cash donations in any amount are also accepted, and may be sent to LAHS Project Grad, P.O. Box 96, Turner, ME 04282.
