NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is moving its Men’s Rally Group meetings to the third Thursday of the month, beginning Thursday, Nov. 16.
Men who are affected by cancer and their caregiver are invited to attend.
The center is also gearing up for its first Turkey Trot, beginning at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 25, at the Guy E. Rowe School. There are both 4-mile and 1-mile options.
Participants may register at runsignup.com/turkeytrot4hope. There will be free T-shirts for the 100 who sign up, and prizes include Sunday River season passes for first place in Junior (ages 6-12) and Teen (ages 13-18) divisions. First place men/women division winners will receive Sunday River day passes.
Drop in hours at the center are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Volunteers are available to provide comfort items such as port protectors, wigs, hats, pillows or look for resources. There are also many informational materials available, as well as lending library.
The center is also a place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, chat with a volunteer or take time for yourself by participating in scheduled activities. Activities such as coloring, knitting or games are available at all times.
All programs offered by the center are free to anyone who has been affected by cancer, survivors and caregivers. New visitors are welcomed to stop by for information and to join in one or all of the activities. The center will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, November 23 and 24.
