LEWISTON — Local singing musical theater artists, Nakesha “Kay” Warren and Mitch Thomas will provide the entertainment at La Rencontre, beginning at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St.
Doors open at 10 a.m. for La Rencontre (The Gathering), which is not restricted to French speakers or yhose of Franco descent. All are welcome to attend the monthly meal and event as long as spots remain open.
After the meal, Community Little Theatre and Franco Center favorites Warren and Thomas will present a selection show tunes and spirituals.
Warren is currently starring as the leading role in CLT’s production of “Sister Act” and previously appeared in a number of productions there and at other companies in Maine and New Hampshire. Thomas has appeared in countless CLT shows since 1985, and recently played “Lumiere” in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.” He does several concerts a year around the region, including at the Center. He grew up in Jay and is executive director of the Franco Center.
La Rencontre is sponsored by TV5MONDE USA, the global French language entertainment network, broadcasting without commercial interruptions, offering programs from France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. TV5MONDE can be found locally on Spectrum Cable at Channel 71.
The home-cooked meal is beef stew, biscuits, with apple crisp for dessert. Parking is included in the price of the ticket.
