Fundraiser for Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center raises more than $60,000

Oct. 92017

AUGUSTA — The Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center hosted its 18th annual Celebrity Dinner Sept. 16 at the Augusta Civic Center. More than 300 community members attended the event and raised more than $60,000 — an event record.
The local celebrity waiters provided a night of entertainment while raising over $11,000 in “tips” – donations for the center.
The annual Celebrity Dinner is the center’s major fundraiser of the year, a fun and meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of those in our community who need support, organizers said.

All of the proceeds from the event will assist the center in providing services to individuals impacted by sexual violence. Through fundraisers, donations and other funding, a fully-staffed and highly-trained sexual assault support-line available 24 hours a day, support groups, advocacy, school-based prevention education, and the Children’s Advocacy Center are all provided free of charge to the Kennebec and Somerset counties’ communities.
Celebrity waiters taking part in the fundraising dinner were Paul Janus, Rocky Gaslin, Dick Dyer, Katie Doherty, William Harwood, Ken Mason, Pamela Boivin, Randall Keaten, Martha Currier, Craig Cameron, Christy Eastman, Karen Kearney, John Sturtevant, Tim Fortin, Jay Hanson, Russ Murley, Kristin Murray-James, Hannah Longley, Ray Moines, Justin Slocum, Elizabeth Barron, Brooke Harris, Michelle Galego, Jennifer Fortin, Renee Adams, Joy McKenna, Jennifer Day, Michael Miclon, Ridge Plummer, Donnie Whitten and Lisa Wardwell.
The Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center is in its 30th year of providing services. Thanks to donors, supporters, and community partners, SAC&SC assisted and supported more than 17,000 people through their many programs within Kennebec and Somerset counties in the past year alone.
The Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center is leading the work to end sexual violence. To find out how you can help, contact Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center at www.silentnomore.org or by calling 207-377-1010.
