Cherie Sargent Scholarship golf tourney is Oct. 22 in Turner

TURNER — The Cherie Sargent Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at at Turner Highlands golf course, 10 Highland Ave.
The fundraising event will support a scholarship available to high school seniors from Leavitt Area and Buckfield Jr./Sr. high schools who are going on to college to major in business administration, have attained a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have participated in one high school sport. The scholarships will be awarded to 2018 graduates.

Cherie Sargent died in 2015 after a three-year battle with colon cancer. She lived in Turner and three of her four children are attending Turner schools.
She grew up in Buckfield and graduated from Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School in 1989. Sargent graduated from the University of Maine in business administration and also had a master’s degree in business administration.
