Wayne Home Tour raises $20,000 for library, church

WAYNE — Sixty-five volunteers, seven homeowners, supporters and nearly 400 visitors from as far away as Texas, California, Utah and Florida contributed to the success of this annual peek into the homes of Wayne, held Sept. 9.
The tour, sponsored by businesses from around the region, raised $20,000 to benefit the Cary Memorial Library and Wayne Community Church.
Those who took part explored each water-view home, the Wayne Community Church, Cary Memorial Library, and Sustain Wayne’s restoration project at the historic Masonic Hall.

A popular stop was the special feature at the Cary’s Williams House, the “Traveling Brushes Art Exhibit/Sale,” which had been organized by plein air water colorist Jann Haynes Gilmore,organizers said.
The tour was the final of six biannual tours showcasing the town and paying tribute to co-founder Ann Clement Fossett, organizers said. Chairwomen were Dee Richardson and Holly Stevenson.
